About College:

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College was established in 1989. It was permanently affiliated to University of Pune till it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in1996.

The medical college holds a special place of pride and distinction in the conglomerate of institutions of learning of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University.

The medical college and all the courses/degrees run by it are recognized by Medical Council of India. The General Medical Council of Great Britain has also given recognition to this college. The college is listed in World Health Organization’s directory of recognized medical educational institutes. The students of this institute are eligible to appear for USMLE and PLAB exams. 

When the college opens for the first year students, the Medical Education Unit of the college conducts a three-day orientation programme. Students are counseled regarding medical curriculum, pattern of teaching and learning, study skills, stress and time management. Later, when the students are exposed to clinical teaching, orientation is conducted regarding development of clinical skills.

The academic in charge of pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical batches receive inputs about performance and attendance of the students. Parents of those students with unsatisfactory performance are informed regarding their ward’s progress. Counseling sessions are held between heads of department and such parents and students to sort out academic and even non-academic problems of these students.

The student’s avail of all other facilities such as library, digital library, internet, well equipped lecture halls with LCD projection.Several cells like counseling cell, guidance cell, grievance cell exist for the students.

Facilities are provided for students to participate in sports and cultural activities. Students are encouraged to participate actively in sports activities, cultural festivals and various community outreach programmes. Every year the students bring out an issue of college magazine “The Elixir” and showcase their literary skills.

Hospital Stats:

Bharati Hospital is a well-known centre of clinical excellence located in the same premises. It is a 856 bedded multi-specialty, tertiary care hospital providing modern diagnostic as well as therapeutic facilities. Housed in a well-planned multistoried building having area of 3,35,500 sq ft, it caters to the immediate vicinity area of 25 sq. km and caters to the population of around 3,00,000 people.

All clinical departments are located in the hospital and have their respective OPDs. The ward and OPDs are well equipped with all facilities for teaching training and patient care. It provides good clinical material for teaching and training of under graduate and Post Graduate students.
