Bio-Chemistry

Biochemistry is a interdisciplinary study which  reduces biological processes (reproduction, aging, genetics) to their chemical identity for easier comprehension. It’s not all internal though; external environmental influences have large effect on all living things and biochemists must tackle that mystery as well. The biochemist must embrace a large field of study at both micro-levels (studying carbohydrates, enzymes and fats and their functions at the cellular level) and macro-levels (studying respiration, metabolism) and more or less everything else related to the biological process.

A bio-chemist studies about the uniqueness of organisms and their biological process.  Nowadays biochemists are engaged in several areas such as in environment, health and  agriculture. Investigation of illnesses, for instance AIDS and cancer is possible due to biochemistry. Unborn babies can also be screened for diseases due to advancements in the biochemistry field.

Career Prospectus:

Biochemistry career opportunities can be virtually limitless: private research institutions, hospitals, government agencies, social and non-profit organisations all hunt for good biochemists. Their goals are usually similar – to research, experiment, conduct trials and find cures for diseases like cancer and AIDS and even mental disorders. Pharmaceuticals keep a sharp eye out for biochemistry professional. Private R&D jobs are among the most lucrative options for a newly minted biochemist.

Bio-chemistry is one of the fast-paced, interactive networks with global career opportunities at all levels.  There is a wide range of career opportunities in the field of biochemistry.  Graduates in biochemistry are placed in the teaching field in government or in private sectors and other fields such as research institutes, agriculture, chemical manufacturing industries, forestry, laboratories, dietetics, industry, hospitals.

Some graduate students work in agrochemical companies, brewing, pharmacological industries, food, and biotechnology not only to increase new products but also to examine the production, quality control and safety of existing ones.  A graduate can seek employment in public or in private sectors. They have lots of scope within India as well as in abroad.
After completion of research programs in biochemistry they can be employed as research analysts for biochemical experimentation such as in food science dept, zoology lab, hormone production, plant science dept, vaccine research, immunology or virology.
