About College:

Yenepoya Medical College was established in the year 1999 and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore for award of degrees. A batch of 100 MBBS students was admitted in the year 1999. Subsequently in year 2005, after obtaining permission from Medical Council of India postgraduate courses in seven departments were started. Presently the Yenepoya Medical College is conducting Post graduate Courses in 20 departments.

The Yenepoya Medical College was declared constituent College of Yenepoya University (Deemed-to-be university under section 3(A) of the UGC Act 1956 as per notification number F 9-11/2007 U-3 dated 27-02-2007) in the year 2009. In the year 2011, the Medical Council of India permitted the College to admit 150 students in MBBS Course with effect from Academic Year 2011.

Yenepoya Medical College is spread over an area of 31.24 acres of sprawling lush green campus.  The Yenepoya Medical College Academic complex is the hub of academic activities. It houses all preclinical and Para-clinical departments, library, lecture halls and examination hall. Separate Recreation Rooms are available for boys & girls in the Academic Block.

 Each department has well equipped Research Laboratory, Students Laboratory, Demonstration Halls with audio visual aids (LCD Projectors, Over Head Projectors and slide Projectors apart from the traditional black board and chalk), Library cum Seminar Room, Faculty/staff rooms, Store, Department office with facilities of computer with printer and Internet facility etc.

 All the Pre and Para clinical departments have state of the art museum with collections of gross specimens, models, charts, photographs, transparency slides and other exhibits. A Medical Illustration & Photography unit in the college is assisting the departments to develop exhibits, charts, models etc used as aids in the teaching of UG/ PG students and others.

The Academic Block houses 06 fully air-conditioned lecture halls provided with excellent seating arrangements and latest audio visual equipments. Audio visual aids provided in the lecture halls include sound amplifier system, overhead projection, 35 mm slide projection and LCD projections apart from the traditional black board and chalk. The lecture halls have also been equipped with facilities for E-learning. The Examination Hall has adequate seating and is designed in such a way that all students are in clear view of the supervisor. The hall is under CCTV surveillance.

The college has a full time Campus Officer and student counselor. Under teacher mentor scheme a faculty member is assigned for 12-15 students to take care of their academic needs and individual difficulties. Parent Teacher & Student Meetings are held at-least twice a year to discuss the progress of the students. The data in respect to attendance, scholastic performance & overall progress of the students is recorded and stored in a retrievable form using a software program called Students Information System (SIS). Parents are updated regarding the progress of their wards every month by email and postal communication.

A state of art Library cum Digital Information Centre spread over 2340.74 Square meters is located in the Academic Block. The library has ergonomically designed seating and lightings to provide comfort and privacy to the users. The library is stocked with more than 11,746 Medical books, 134 journals, 21 periodicals and 471CDROM. The collection is being continuously updated with new editions of Books, Journals and periodicals. The postgraduate section is in the lower basement floor of the dual level library. Postgraduate students are encouraged to actively participate in the seminars, journal clubs and E-learning processes. Photocopying, printing and scanning services are available to the students in the library at minimal cost.

A state of art fully air-conditioned Indoor Auditorium equipped with audio visual aids is used commonly for common classes, seminars, workshops, Quizzes and other scientific meets.

The Yenepoya Medical College is backed up by ultra modern Yenepoya Sports Complex and Hostel Complex for the students and the staff.

Hospital Stats:

The Yenepoya Medical College has a 929 bedded state of art ultra modern hospital providing general and specialist healthcare. It caters to the health care needs of the regions of Dakshina Kannada & Northern Kerala. The services are provided at heavily subsidized rates and totally free to the poor and deserving patients. The Clinical departments are housed in Hospital Complex.
