Hospital Stats:

A paradigm shift in thought process that happened in 1996 provided the impetus to achieve quality healthcare by establishing a modest KLE Society Hospital in the regions of Northern Karanataka. This modest endeavour has now transformed   into a premier   2200 - bedded KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre at Belgaum.  The meticulously planned hospital that meets the 21st century needs crystallized in establishing the state-of-the-art facilities that cater to all disciplines of health sciences. The hospital has indeed, in a very short time, introduced several new services such as cardiology, cardiac surgery, lithotripsy, gamma camera, etc., thereby ensuring constant progress.

Since the inception of J N Medical College (JNMC), the Government District Hospital, Belagavi (DHB) was affiliated to it  for clinical training. When the Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) was started in 2004 , the DHB was disaffiliated from JNMC. Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital(PKCH) was commissioned in 2004 for clinical training of JNMC students. In consonance with the philosophy of the KLE Society, the PKCH provides free health care in the basic specialities to the poor people of this part of the country. At present, there are 1250 beds in the hospital and with 80 to 90% occupancy, it provides excelleant range of clinical material to the undergraduate(UG) and post graduate(PG) students and  researchers.

1400 bed KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital,  provides  free health care in basic specialities to the poor.  1000 bed Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre provides cost effective  superspeciality health care services in cardio thoracic & vascular surgery, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, paediatric surgery, cardiac anaesthesiology, nephrology, gastro eneterology, oncology, laparoscopic surgery, diabetology etc . The medical students are   exposed to a holistic approach to the full spectrum of science and art of modern medical practice in low as well as high resource settings. This is one of the largest hospitals with 2400 beds under one roof. There are 26 major operation theatres and 240 ICU beds.
