Dentistry and oral care along with the technological advances cater to the needs of people suffering from simple toothache to painful wisdom tooth. Cosmetic surgery, lip surgery, and other dental surgeries, big and small, have given the scope for dentistry to be one of the most sought after careers in today’s health industry. Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences offers quality education in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). The college has state of the art infrastructure and highly dedicated faculty. It is located in Vydehi’s main campus, in Bangalore. Established in 2001, it is approved by Dental Council of India, Government of India and, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

The 4-year BDS course provides students with ample opportunities in the field of oral healthcare. Students are made to be thorough with the concepts of general health sciences, develop high levels of professionalism, and acquainted with logical reasoning and critical decision making skills that would help them to make a brilliant and prosperous career in the dental field.

In the first year of the BDS course students would be exposed to extensive lectures, laboratory activities, and basic clinical activities in medical sciences, general anatomy, physiology etc. Students get the opportunity to gather experience in preventive dentistry. The curriculum for the second year helps the students to further develop their preclinical skills. The third and fourth year curriculum gives the final shape to the students when they provide clinical treatment, attend specific lectures, and get accustomed with general hospital postings. Students get on hands experience in treating patients.

Throughout the BDS course, students have access to High-tech clinical labs, Dental material lab, Oral pathology lab, Programmable electrical dental chairs, research labs, a comprehensive library with all the necessary books & journals, and Internet.

At Vydehi there are separate accommodations for boys and girls, which varies from single occupancy to three in a room, these hostels have independent library in their respective buildings.The entire hostel complexes at Vydehi are ensured with 24-hour security, maintenance, engineering, power, water supply The hostel provides a cot, a mattress, a study table, a chair and a cupboard for each student.
