MDS in Orthodonitics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics

M. D. S. in Ortho Dontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics is a three year Postgraduate program. Ortho Dontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics is the specialty in dentistry that focuses on the alignment of the teeth and the dental arches: the maxilla and the mandible. The practice of this specialty includes diagnosis, prevention, interception, and correction of malocclusion and other abnormalities of the developing or mature orofacial structures.

The program provides a comprehensive curriculum which prepares qualified graduates or dentists to Ortho Dontic and Dentofacial Orthopaedics specialists. The postgraduates learn a variety of treatment modalities under the tutelage of experienced teaching faculty.

M.D.S. Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics or Masters in Dental Surgery in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics is a three year postgraduate Dentistry.  The Course helps to educate orthodontists who are proficient at treating the broad scope of occlusal and dentofacial malocclusions. Special emphasis is placed on diagnosis and treatment planning, growth and development, biomechanics, and occlusion, using research to help develop critical thinking and writing skills while making a significant contribution to the scientific literature. Course helps to focus on the alignment of the teeth and the dental arches: the maxilla and the mandible. The practice of this specialty includes diagnosis, prevention, interception, and correction of malocclusion and other abnormalities of the developing or mature orofacial structures.

Duration of the Course :

Three years from the date of commencement of classes.

Eligibility  :

• BDS with minimum 55% marks
• Some reputed colleges and institutes do conduct entrance examination to get admission to Degree course.

Remuneration:

A dental surgeon can earn good amount of money by their own practice. A consultant charges from Rs 250 onwards for cosmetic filling or routine check-up. This may increase up to Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 depending upon the nature of the dental problem. A well experienced dentist can earn around 

Rs 30,000 to Rs 1, 00,000 or more per month.
