MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The M. D. S. in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics is three year Postgraduate program. It is the branch of dentistry which deals with the treatment of caries, malformed, discoloured, nonesthetic, or fractured teeth and endodontics deals with treatment of pulpal and periapical diseases and dental pain management. The curriculum provides training in the prevention and treatment of the disease and injuries of the hard tissues and the pulp of the tooth and associated periodical lesions.
The purpose of the course is to provide advanced education in the subject to highly qualified graduate dentists who are interested in a career of specialized practice, teaching and research.
Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics deals with diagnosis, treatment planning and restoration of teeth to reproduce esthetics and function. It also deals with smile designing, esthetic dentistry which includes bleaching of teeth, laminates and veneers. Endodontics is a branch which deals with root canal treatmenst and periapical surgeries.The provision of various treatment options starts with, training the students on simulators.

Duration of the Course :

 Three years from the date of commencement of classes.

A dental surgeon can earn good amount of money by their own practice. A consultant charges from Rs 250 onwards for cosmetic filling or routine check-up. This may increase up to Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 depending upon the nature of the dental problem. A well experienced dentist can earn around Rs 30,000 to Rs 1, 00,000 or more per month.
